We welcome you to the Rotary Club of St. Catharines Lakeshore

The Rotary Club of St. Catharines Lakeshore was chartered in 1986.  The club currently has 36 members from a wide variety of professions.  Each week we invite a guest speaker or attend a special event which gives us great insight into our community and the interesting happenings in Niagara.

Supporting Rotary Projects locally and around the world

Our SCHOOL TO HOME READING PROGRAM”, currently being conducted in a number of local elementary Schools across St. Catharines, offers both English and French reading Programs. Initiated in 2010, this Program involves purchasing “leveled” reading books for Grades 1 to 4. Selected students read to our volunteers at school, then they take the book home to read to their family & the process repeats.  Accountable & measurable, this extra time & attention increases a student’s literacy skills, while encouraging the love of reading!

Our largest local project has been Charles Ansell Park, situated at Lock One on the Welland Canal.  We have now completed three phases of the park.  Other local projects we support are St. Catharines General Hospital, Community Care, Kristen French Child Advocacy Centre Niagara, RAFT, The Rotary Para Transit Bus, Salvation Army, and United Way Backpacks for Kids.  Internationally we have supported Children of Chernobyl, Ryan's Bowl (feeding the poorest school children of Uganda) and  Rotary's efforts in the eradication of Polio world-wide.  Our Club is also involved in supporting the annual Rotary Medalists, Vocational Excellence Awards and Youth Exchanges at our local secondary schools.

To support our local projects and Rotary International initiatives, we host a number of fundraising events through the year, including this event along with our long-running February Trivia Night (22 years), our latest Trivia Night held in November, our “Rotary Golf Classic” held in July and our annul Draw for Literacy.

The fellowship that is developed through our regular meetings and our fundraisers makes the St. Catharines Lakeshore Rotary Club a lot of fun.  We are a very social club and we are always glad to meet new members who are interested in our motto "  Service above self"
