Dr. Barry Wright CEO outlined the progress of the Niagara 2021 Canada Summer Games to date and where we are going. With 18 sports to be held at 13 locations across Niagara August 6 to 21, 2021 the games are expected to generate a $450 Million economic impact to Niagara and create a number of legacy facilities for the area including Canada Games Park currently under construction at Brock University (eventually shared by Brock, the city of St. Catharines and the City of Thorold) and the state-of the-art Rowing facility on Henley Island. Over 2 years of lead up events and community engagement activities are planned. The Opening Ceremonies will be held in the Meridian Centre with the closing ceremonies planned for Victoria Park in Niagara Falls with over 200,000 expected to be in attendance. Widespread media coverage of all Niagara has to offer is expected through TSN, on-line webcasts and through the print media. Finally, Dr. Wright outlined volunteer opportunities. Over 4000 volunteers will by needed. For information, go to the Canada Games website at https://niagara2021.ca/get-involved/volunteering/
