Joy:   has joined the Big Bike Ride for Heart & Stroke. A small donation is requested. A pledge sheet circulated. You will be kept up-to-date on progress.
 
Marlene: message from Linda Landry, she is looking for a volunteer to work at a Book Sale in Niagara Falls. The sale is sponsored by Women's Place. It is May 4th from 1pm to 4pm. This will give us 60$ worth of books for the Literacy Program
 
Clarice: CAP meeting following tonight's regular meeting. As of this week, we received from the Seaway a notice that our fence does not meet Federal Safety standards, trees are too close to the fence and the fence needs to be replaced with chain link and wire.We have a meeting with Rick Dykstra, the Mayor and the Seaway authority to make sense of the new restrictions.
Clarice is also seeking sponsors for her Rankin Run. Her pledge form circulated.
 
Milica: Plant Sale - next week Linda Jones will do a presentation on plant splitting. She will bring pots to distribute. The committee is also looking for nice pots to fill and sell. The flyers are available for circulation. Reminder that we are also accepting used clothing this year.
 
Sandi: Bingo is up and going.
 
PROGRAM
 
Phil introduced Lynn Jerchel.
 
Lynn is a firm believer in supporting victimized children through volunteering efforts. Lynn is retired from the provincial government of Alberta as executive Director of the Early Childhood Development Branch. She worked for the Alberta government for 24 years and has a background as a specialist in child care and working with children with special needs. This work included policy and program development for all legislation governing child care, supporting the service delivery of licensing, family day homes, child care subsidy and inclusive child care for children that have disabilities or special needs.
Jon thanked the speaker and offered up our very special glass mug.
