To emphasize our literacy mandate, Tyler Snure spoke to us at our August 27th meeting about what he is doing in developing and delivering systems to encourage reluctant readers to read. The following was taken from his website. “Tyler Snure, a 17-year-old senior high school student when The Jewels of Fate was first published, has loved reading and writing stories since childhood. He started writing creatively at the age of seven and worked on the first book for over five years as a teenager. The idea began as a short story in elementary school and developed from there! The second novel in this trilogy, The Sword of Sorenth, was released a few years later. This action-packed series won't disappoint fans of fiction, fantasy, or adventure stories! "
Tyler is currently a university student working towards his Bachelor of Arts in English. He lives with his family and dog in Ontario, Canada. He spoke of ways to keep “reluctant readers” away from TV and to get them into reading books. We get better comprehension from reading a paper book than reading “.pdf” books.

- Beth introduced our exchange student from Japan; Yuuka. Patricia announced we can “meet and greet her” 6:30 pm Tues 9 Sep 25 with other clubs at 226 Merrit St.
- Annette encouraged us to attend the Business After 5 meeting Tues 2 Sep 25 5pm at Bethlehem Place.
- Eric of the need to sell those table teickets and to find more sponsors for the Trivia Nights coming up in fall and winter sessions.
- Anne reported that the Little Lending Library at Jones beach has a new sign.
